Fill a container with hot water:
The first thing to do to dye clothes by hand is to get a plastic basin large enough for the clothes to be completely submerged and loose. If it is not completely submerged, it will not be dyed evenly. Fill it with water as hot as the composition of the garment allows.
Add fixative and salt:
Iberia dye contains a color fixative to dye clothes by hand and obtain more intense and long-lasting colors. Dissolve the powder fixative contained in the case in the basin and also add 5 tablespoons of salt for each liter of water. You can use common table salt or Iberia dyeing salt, which will ensure greater color retention. Stir until everything is well dissolved.
Add the dye:
To dye clothes by hand, put on rubber gloves, cut the envelopes with scissors and pour the dye into a bowl of hot water, stir until completely dissolved. Then, pour the mixture into the basin with hot water and stir gently to avoid splashing.
Enter clothing:
Wet the clothes with water and place them in the container. Leave it completely submerged for 40 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Rinse the clothes and wash them:
Use the gloves again to remove the clothing and rinse under running water.
Empty the container, fill it with warm water and add a little detergent, submerge the clothes and wash them gently without rubbing. Rinse with plenty of water and drain without wringing. Above all, remember that when dyeing clothes by hand, it is important that you wear gloves throughout the process.Dry clothes in the shade:
Lay it out on a horizontal surface so that there are no creases or marks. Do not use the dryer.
Dye in the washing machine:
Pre-dissolve the paint in hot water:
Protect the surface where you are going to handle the paint by covering it with newspaper or plastic and wearing gloves. When opening the dye sachets, small particles may be released.
You will need a container to dissolve the dye in hot water. You can use a glass or a water bottle. Fill it halfway with hot water and carefully pour in the food coloring. Dissolve the mixture well, with a spoon or by shaking the closed bottle.
Prepare the washing machine:
Put salt to dye Iberia or 500g inside the drum. of common kitchen salt. Carefully cut the fastener tray at the corner and place it inside the drum as well.
Enter the clothes you are going to dye, they must be clean, dry and wrinkle-free.
Do not add the dye yet, turn on the washing machine selecting a long program without pre-wash at 40ºC.
Pour the dissolved paint:
After 3 to 5 minutes from the start of the program, when enough water has entered the drum, open the drawer and pour the diluted paint into the compartment marked II, the one used for detergent.
Pour the dye carefully, avoiding splashes. If there are traces of dye on the bottle or box, add more hot water to remove them. Wipe up any spills with a damp cloth.
Washing clothes after dyeing:
Once the dyeing program has finished, you must wash the clothes to eliminate any traces of dye. Add detergent and select a one-hour program, without prewash, at 40ºC.
Dry the laundry:
Do not use the dryer. Spread the clothes on a horizontal surface in the shade, avoiding direct exposure to the sun.
